The Ahwahneechee are one of the YMCA Indian Princess Tribes within the Pawnee Nation. The Pawnee Nation consists of the Mohawk, Shawnee, Cheyenne, Cherokee, Fox and Ahwahneechee tribes. The Ahawhneechee are the largest Tribe within our Nation with 45 members. The Pawnee are one of two Y-Princess Nations that are part of the Beach Cities YMCA Program, which serves San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente, Dana Point and nearby areas

The Ahwahneechee Indian Princess Tribe was born of the Great Bluffs of Dana Point, CA where St. Edward Church brought our Warriors and Princesses together for a common cause. A cause of Good that lives within our Hearts and burns strong at our gatherings.

Within the Pawnee Nation, we were spawn of the Coyote Tribe that split into two tribes, The Cherokee & The Ahwahneechee. We were turned free to go and prosper and spread the word of the Great Spirit into other lands.

Today, the Ahwahneechee Indian Princess Tribe is led by CHIEF "MAYAN MOUNTAIN" - DAN GUTIERREZ.

Chief Mayan Mountain - Dan Gutierrez. Chief Mayan Mountain is a 2nd year rank warrior who stepped up to take the reins of a finely tuned tribe. He is well versed in the ways of the Ahwahneechee and is determined to take the tribe to even newer heights. We have all seen Dan's leadership skills in action and are excited about his calendar of events this year. We will all benefit from his skills as hunter, gatherer and organizer for this year's Ahwahneechee events. His daughter, Princess Flying Dolphin - Maddie is in her 2rd year with the Ahwahneechee.

Assistant Chief Big Bear - David Tritz is another warrior who has risen up from the ranks to earn his title of Assistant Chief. Big Bear and his daughter, Erin, Princess Little Bear, are seasoned Ahawahneechee and have attended many events. He has shown his leadership qualities as a provider of food, crafts and entertainment.

Medicine Man White Stone - Jeff Grubert is a 2nd year warrior along with his daughter Sophia, Princess Prancing Unicorn. White Stone has guided many warriors through unfamiliar territories of this program with his sense of calm and has offered his knowledge many princesses over the years. We look forward to more of his words of wisdom.

We also have the Guidance of Former Nation's Chief - Tired Bear - Tom Kennedy, who's great mediation and orator skills maintain a link and keep us socially bonded with other tribes as well as providing comic relief throughout the Pawnee Nation.
Today, Chief Tired Bear primarily
engages in trade, exchanging food, crafts, animals and furs for trinkets, blankets, iron and steel implements, horses, firearms and non-alcoholic beverages.
