Upcoming Events

posted Jan 22, 2009 12:27 PM by Chad Meisinger

Wahoka Ahwahneechee!

Boy, lots going on – please take the time to read this email, you don’t want to miss out on any of the fun.

Pawnee Nation Fishing Derby –This Saturday @ Laguna Niguel Regional Park.  See the attached flyer for time & information.

Forecast calls for possible rain, but we fish rain or shine.  I’ll bring a pop-up to provide some shelter from the elements. Check the flyer for other suggestions on what to bring.

With regard to food, each tribe is on its own.  Since this is a register @ the door event, just plan on bringing a little extra grub to share with your fellow tribe members.  There are a couple of grills near our assembly area so you’ll be able to cook dogs, burgers , etc.

Globetrotter Game – Tickets are available for the World Famous Harlem Globetrotter Game on Saturday February 14 – 1 PM.  Yes this is Valentine’s day but you’ll be home in plenty of time to take your Sweet Valentine to dinner.   There are good seats at a great price for the game … sign up on the Y website.  See the attached flyer for details.

YMCA Annual Campaign – No doubt the Princess program has created many unforgettable memories for you & your daughter.  And even though many of us have had to tighten our financial belts, compared to others we are still blessed.  I know many of you already donate your time & money to other worthy organizations, but I am asking you to consider making a contribution to the YMCA Annual Campaign.  Funds donated during this campaign will be used to provide direct assistance to families who would like to participate in programs such as the Y Princess program but just don’t have the financial resources.  The bulk of donated funds will be used to offset the cost of the Y’s before/after school childcare programs.  Most of the families that will benefit from these resources are hard working families.  There is no pressure to give a certain amount … all donors will be recognized for their contribution (but I hope that we can at least match the $1,300 that was collected as an incentive to drop lbs).  The goal for the Beach Cities YMCA Princess & Guides program is $18,000 so get your family and friends to kick in a little as well.  A member of the YMCA Board of Directors will be visiting an upcoming tribe meeting to provide you & me with more information about how we can donate.  Thanks for our consideration.

Turkey Shoot

posted Nov 8, 2008 9:20 PM by mike linares

Give the squaw the afternoon off!  Make sure you to come out to the 2008 Turkey Shoot!  There will be games for the kids & a champion dad/daughter egg-toss team will be crowned.  Let’s show the other wimpy tribes who the MIGHTY really are – the AHWAHNEECHEE!!  No less than 100% participation from our tribe is the goal!  No excuse for not attending - you’ll be able to sign up on-line w/ the Y or call Erin Johnson at the Y (link to Y site & Erin’s phone number are on our website www.ahwahneechee.com).

FOR ALL NEW WARRIORS/PRINCESSES & RETURNING WARRIORS W/ NEW PRINCESSES

This is the annual induction ceremony for you and your Princess.  Please contact Mike Linares whether you plan to attend or not so we can make sure you are properly recognized during the induction ceremony.  If you have not decided on an Indian name yet, try & make a decision soon – part of induction ceremony is recognizing you & your daughter by your new tribe name.
